If you are expecting the ATO’s help with funding the Christmas cheer this year, you need to get your tax return signed and lodged by 15th of December!
The ATO has advised that any returns lodged after this date may not be processed until the New Year, leaving anyone with a refund to wait till 2020.
During the period 24th December to 2nd January, the ATO is undertaking its Activity Statement Financial Processing project, which will see more than 17 million activity statement and franking deficit accounts moved into the current accounting system presently used for income tax.
This means …
- all Standard Business Reporting (SBR) including lodgement services will be offline
- limited access for STP will remain, but records will not be processed or visible
- payments can still be made via BPAY, EFT or at Australia Post but won’t be visible
- payments for the Small Business Superannuation Clearing House (SBSCH) can still be made but won’t be processed
… until the ATO’s systems are back online by 2nd January 2020.
