Pandemic Leave for Victorians required to self-isolate

The Federal Government will introduce a $1,500 “disaster payment” for workers who have been directed to stay at home by public health officials because of coronavirus but do not have leave entitlements, Prime Minister Scott Morrison says.

It will be available to workers in Victoria who need to self-isolate for 14 days but do not have sick leave or payments through JobKeeper or JobSeeker.

People will be able to access the payment as many times as is required, if they are required to self-isolate multiple times.

“People will only need to ring the number 180 22 66, I’m advised, from Wednesday, and we’ll be able to update that between now and then if there any changes to that time frame.”

The Prime Minister has said they will look at rolling this out into other states if they reach the same level as Victoria.

More information will be available on the Services Australia page from Wednesday morning.
